Firefighting Programs

Our Instructor Team are made up of emergency response service members who are leaders in the industry in advanced instructional and technical training techniques. All our instructors have received extensive training in their specialized field and are gifted with the ability to pass on this knowledge to the new learner.

Playbook Exterior Operations

The training topics in this program are recognized by the College of the Rockies. Provincial Fire and Safety Training Ltd works closely with the College of the Rockies delivering Exterior and Interior Operations Firefighter NFPA compliant training programs. Provincial Fire and Safety provides and delivers fire and safety instruction and training which meets or exceeds NFPA, WorksafeBC and B.C. Playbook standards and requirements.

Auto Extrication

The Provincial Fire and Safety Auto Extrication course involves hands-on practical training and addresses scene safety, evaluation, and management. The students will gain hands-on experience using various methods to stabilize vehicles. The training includes challenging scenarios where all participating students must work together as a team. 

Rapid Intervention Training

The purpose of a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) is to locate and rescue lost, trapped, and injured firefighters at an emergency scene and injured firefighters during an emergency response. The Rapid Intervention Team training program meets the NFPA 1407-Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews.

Emergency Scene Traffic Control

This program is for emergency responders who have responsibility for setting up emergency scene traffic control as a regular or occasional part of their work. It will be valuable for a variety of first responders in fire and emergency services roles.

Low/Steep Rope Rescue

This course covers the fundamental low and steep angle rope rescue skills required for accessing a person in a rescue situation or a vehicle and its occupants over a roadside embankment.

Incident Command

This course is directed towards firefighters and officers, career, and volunteer.  The program examines the principle of fire ground control through utilization of personnel and equipment related to various emergency scenarios. Using video and model towns, students will manage the attack and coordinate the suppression of several structure fires in buildings of various occupancies.

Emergency Vehicle Operations/Air Brake Refresher

This program is delivered by Class 3 Licensed and Air Brake Endorsed Emergency Response career members. All our instructors are certified Fire Service Instructors Level 1 and Level 2 and are certified evaluators. The program is specific to the apparatus supplied by the client.

NFPA 1001 Training

This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements for career and volunteer fire fighters whose duties are primarily structural in nature. This course is designed to prepare the participant to be able to perform firefighting functions at an intermediate level meeting minimum national standard according to NFPA 1001.

Technical Rescue Programs

Our staff is comprised of certified confined space entrants and stand-by attendants who may be required to: enter and work in confined spaces, perform stand-by attendant duties, use a gas detection device, ventilate and perform non-entry retrieval rescues.

Confined Space Entrant Attendant Program

We provide team members for Confined Space Entrant / Attendant work who understands the nature of the hazards that may be found inside a confined space and can recognize signs, symptoms and behavioural effects that workers in the confined space could experience. 

Low/Steep Rope Rescue

This course covers the fundamental low and steep angle rope rescue skills required for accessing a person in a rescue situation or a vehicle and its occupants over a roadside embankment.

Standby Rescue

Our staff is comprised of emergency service members who are certified confined space standby rescue specialists. We can act as part of a confined space rescue team where entry into IDLH environments would be required to rescue an injured worker. Our members certification and training meet and exceeds WorkSafeBC requirements and includes patient packaging, SCBA and SAR use, chemical protection, rescue pre-plans, gas monitoring and ventilation.

First Aid Training

First aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those wanting to become first responders. Course teaches techniques for sustaining life, preventing further injuries, and caring for illnesses and injuries until the next level of medical personnel arrives. Includes CPR level HCP and AED.

First Responder Medical Training

Comprehensive first aid and CPR skills for professional first responders or those training to become first responders. Course teaches the patient assessment model, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, hemorrhage control, and care for a variety of acute and chronic conditions. Participants will be engaged in dynamic training techniques including video, media presentations, skills demonstrations, practice sessions, discussions and scenarios based on real-life situations.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundational course for healthcare professionals and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. BLS is the cornerstone program for healthcare professionals.

Provincial Fire and Safety Training provides a wide variety of training programs, including the Office of the Fire Commissioner Playbook program, Auto Extrication, Low/Steep Rope Rescue, Emergency Scene Traffic Control, Incident Command Training and Rapid Intervention Training.
