First Aid Training

At Provincial Fire and Safety, we provide certified first aid and emergency response training for individuals, workplaces, and professional responders. Our mission is to equip participants with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies.

Our certified instructors offer a wide range of courses—including workplace safety, child care, marine, wilderness, and advanced care—through trusted providers like Red Cross, WorkSafeBC, and Heart & Stroke.

First Aid & CPR Courses

  • CPR Level C

Learn CPR skills for adults, children, and infants, including AED use. Ideal for workplace and community responders.

  • Emergency First Aid/Basic First Aid

Learn high-quality CPR and airway management for all age groups. Ideal for healthcare providers. Includes 1- and 2-person CPR and optional oxygen therapy. WorkSafeBC approved (formerly OFA 1)

  • Standard First Aid/Intermediate First Aid

Intermediate first aid with CPR-C/AED. WorkSafeBC approved (formerly OFA 2) and accepted for child care settings.

  • Emergency Child Care First Aid

A one-day introductory course for caregivers that focuses on lifesaving first aid and CPR skills for children and babies. Ideal for those working in early childhood education or daycare. Meets provincial safety requirements.

  • Standard Child Care First Aid

A comprehensive two-day course providing advanced first aid, CPR, and injury prevention skills tailored to children and infants. Meets provincial legislation for child care providers and includes the latest guidelines.

  • Marine Basic First Aid

Transport Canada-approved course designed for emergencies in marine and fishing environments. Includes CPR/AED Level A. 3-year certification provided.

Professional Responder & Advanced First Aid Training

  • First Responder Training

Professional-level first aid and CPR training for firefighters, lifeguards, ski patrol, and workplace teams. Covers assessment, trauma care, and emergency scenarios.

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Training

This advanced-level course equips participants with the skills needed to assess, manage, and transport patients in emergency situations. Designed for professionals in emergency medical care, training includes real-life scenarios, patient assessments, and advanced interventions. Certification is valid for 3 years.

  • Emergency Medical Responder Bridge Course

Upgrade your first responder training with this Red Cross EMR Bridge course. Learn advanced assessment, patient care, and transport techniques for real-world emergencies. 3-year certification upon completion.

  • Advanced First Aid

Comprehensive training for workplace first aid attendants and medical responders. Covers advanced patient care and transport, meeting CSA standards. - Worksafe approved (formerly OFA3)

  • Transportation Endorsement

WorkSafeBC-approved training for first aid attendants transporting injured workers. Learn safe lifting, patient packaging, and spinal motion restriction techniques.

Ministerial Order 292 expanded the scope of practice for all Emergency Medical Assistants in BC. Until approved training is completed, license holders cannot use the new skills. This 8-hour, EMALB-approved course removes scope restrictions for certified First Responders and Emergency Medical Responders.

  • Wilderness First Aid

A hands-on certification including CPR-AED Level C, designed for outdoor and remote emergency care. Learn to manage wilderness injuries and medical emergencies with up-to-date, evidence-based techniques. Valid 3-year certification included. Delivered partly outdoors for real-world experience.

  • Marine Advanced First Aid 

Transport Canada-approved course (TP 13008E) focused on managing medical emergencies at sea. Includes CPR, trauma care, patient transport, and marine-specific scenarios.

CPR & Life Support Programs

  • Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS)

Foundational CPR training for healthcare providers and responders. Learn high-quality CPR, AED use, and emergency response skills for all ages with flexible online and in-person options.

  • Red Cross BLS with Airway and Oxygen Therapy

Learn to safely manage airways and administer supplemental oxygen using proper equipment. Ideal for healthcare and pre-hospital providers. Courses are 1–2 hours standalone or 1 hour combined with BLS. 3-year certification included.
